The purpose of this new blue tail drive gear is to increase the gear ratio so the tail can spin slower. With most of us trying everything to over power the T-Rex so it can lift off into the earth's orbit, the tail is spinning unnecessarily fast which makes the rudder servo work harder. By slowing them down we no longer need to run a bulky digital rudder servo to lock in the rudder. The heli just seems more calm with this new gear ratio without any loss in tail authority.
